A delegation of garment and textile industry leaders from Hong Kong recently visited Cairo to explore investment and partnership opportunities in Egypt’s growing apparel and textile manufacturing sector. The business mission aimed to strengthen trade relations and identify potential collaborations between Hong Kong companies and Egyptian industry stakeholders.
The delegation consisted of 14 executives and industry representatives from Hong Kong’s garment and textile sector. The visit was organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) as part of its initiative to expand international partnerships and help Hong Kong businesses explore emerging markets in the Middle East and North Africa.
During the visit, the delegation held discussions with several major Egyptian institutions to understand the country’s industrial ecosystem and investment environment. These included the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI).
The meetings focused on Egypt’s industrial infrastructure, regulatory framework, and incentives for foreign investors. Officials highlighted the country’s efforts to strengthen its textile and garment manufacturing ecosystem and position itself as a global export hub for apparel production.
As part of the mission, the Hong Kong delegation also met with Concrete Fashion Group, one of Egypt’s leading garment exporters and an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for international fashion brands. The discussions explored potential supply chain partnerships and collaboration opportunities in apparel manufacturing.
Industry experts emphasized that Egypt’s apparel sector offers strong opportunities due to its competitive production costs, skilled workforce, and growing export-oriented manufacturing capacity. These advantages make the country attractive for international companies seeking to diversify their sourcing and manufacturing bases.
Officials highlighted Egypt’s strategic geographical position, which provides easy access to markets across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and North America through multiple trade agreements. This positioning allows manufacturers operating in Egypt to export products efficiently to global markets.
According to Egypt’s Consul-General in Hong Kong and Macau, the mission represents an important step toward strengthening economic cooperation between the two regions. He noted that Egypt offers strong investment opportunities for global manufacturers seeking cost-efficient production and access to international markets.
The visit reflects growing interest among Asian apparel companies in Egypt as a manufacturing destination. By connecting Hong Kong’s global sourcing expertise with Egypt’s production capabilities, industry leaders believe the partnership could enhance supply chain resilience and support the expansion of textile exports from the region.
The business mission is expected to pave the way for further cooperation between Hong Kong and Egypt in the textile and garment sector, potentially leading to new investments, technology exchange, and long-term industry partnerships.
